LEILA LOPES OF ANGOLA IS CROWNED MISS UNIVERSE


 LOPES TAKE OVER HER PLACE AS THE WINNER OF THE 60th ANNUAL MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT



Sao Paulo, Sept 13 (TruthDive): Leila Lopes, 25, from Angola was crowned Miss Universe, beating out 88 competitors, after becoming the very first Miss Angola to be crowned Miss Universe at the pageant held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 60th edition of one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world saw record 89 beauties from as many countries across the world compete for the crown.
In a brunette-dominated field of flat-stomached, leggy contestants, Lopes’ sweet smile and hairstyle (up in topknot, not long cascading curls) set her apart from the start.
Lopes, 25 is a business management student currently studying in Great Britain and are the first-ever representative of her country to bag the Miss Universe crown.
“Thank God I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing,” Lopes said when asked her interview question. “I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.”
Ms Lopes, who became the first from Angola to win Miss Universe in the pageant’s 60-year history, was crowned by last year’s winner, Ximena Navarrete from Mexico.
Finalists accompanying Lopes into the top five were Miss Ukraine Olesia Stefanko, Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup, Miss China Luo Zilin and Miss Brazil Priscila Machado.
China’s Luo Zilin came in fourth, Philippines’ Shamcey Supsup was third, Brazil’s Priscila Machado second and Ukraine’s Olesia Stefanko was picked first runners up.
While the other countries that made the top ten were Miss Australia Scherri-lee Biggs, Miss Costa Rica Johanna Solano, Miss France Laury Thilleman, Miss Portugal Laura Goncalves and Miss Panama Sheldry Saez.
India’s hopes were dashed early into the competition’s final rounds after contestant Vasuki failed to make it to the top 10.


IN FAN VOTING, LOPES TALLIED ONLY 3.6 SCORES FOR THE SWIMSUIT AND 7.2 FOR THE EVENING GOWN


LAILA HAS WON THE BRIGHT BIKNI, THEN PRADED AROUND THE STAGE WITH POISE IN A FORM-FITTING EVENING GOWN COLORED IN GOLD AND SILVER SEQUINS AND FEATHERS
